Saturday: The Journey Up Chimborazo
Sunday: Stepping backwards a bit, the Calvin team came down to Ecuador as part of the Clean Water Institute of Calvin College (CWICC). This is an institute which commits to maintaining sustainable water treatment. CWICC partners with Life Giving Water International to aid in the many projects promoting sustainable water treatment. Life Giving Water International does not only work on their own, they partner with Codeinse. Codeinse is a locally run organization that not only assists in water treatment and disinfection but also with the spread of Christianly. They focus on assisting communities rather than enabling them.
With all that being said, CWICC worked side by side with Codeinse.
In appreciation for all the work and study the Calvin team did, Codeinse put on a barbecue for our team and theirs. It was a wonderful time to socialize and meet the many influential Ecuadorian people who are making such a difference. Not only was it for appreciation but of course for the annual football game: Americanos vs. Ecuadorians.

Monday: Summarizing our results from testing in the communities, we presented our results to Codeinse themselves, and several communities who attended. I was in awe of the communities’ attentiveness and desire to learn throughout the two-hour presentation of chemical formulas and big words! (Sometime I can’t even pay attention for that long!) After the presentation, the Calvin team hopped in our bus as we traveled to another tourist site; Alausi.
Alausi, a town in the Chimborazo province of Ecuador is known for its architecture, and most of the houses are over 100 years old.

Tuesday: THE BEAUTIFUL TRAIN RIDE
Alausi is also known for the starting point for the Nariz del Diablo train. This engineering work is among the most audacious projects in the Andean mountain range.

Wednesday: Teliferico Ride up Pichincha.
Pichincha is an active stratovolcano in the country of Ecuador, whose capital, Quito, wraps around its eastern slopes.

Thursday: Exploring the HUGE city of Quito hop on hop off bus style
