A little bit more about myself. I have been extremely fortunate to grow up in a loving Christian household with my mom, dad and younger brother. My dad is a mechanical engineer and my mom is a mission’s director. Growing up, my brother and I were very involved in missions. At the age of 8, I traveled to Guatemala on my first international mission’s trip. I vividly remember realizing that there was a larger world then what I was used to living in back home at the age of 8, but also that actual people struggle and are not as fortunate as myself. Still to this day, my family and I travel to Guatemala every other year to visit our sponsored students and serve the local mayan people.

Another experience in which contributed to my worldview was living aboard. All throughout my life my family and I had moved quite frequently for my dad’s job, and indeed my freshman year of high school, the Yunker family moved to Geneva, Switzerland. While living abroad, my brother and I attended an international school with over 50 different nationalities. I gathered a larger world view and the experience in general opened my eyes wider to the whole world, of struggle, pain, hunger and much more. With this new and improved view not only did it shape my everyday life to being more appreciate and thankful but it sparked my passion.

I am beyond blessed to have the opportunity to intern this summer in Riobama, Ecuador with Living Giving Water International. This organization works throughout Ecuador installing water purification systems to improve the health, and sanitation of the local communities. I have the honor of serving with this respectable organization while living with an Ecuadorian family this summer. I will be able to use my Spanish language, and my loving heart to collect water samples, track choline limits, translate, and show love to the local Ecuadorian people that God created. This opportunity is once in a lifetime since the organization usually only accepts juniors. I am thrilled with my achievements, and look forward to this life changing experience.

   WHO AM I

My passion is loving others and giving back. With all this being said, my dream is to use my talents, which I believe is engineering, to better and serve the world.
